The month of May started with two weeks of conferences. First up was JAX, the conference for Java, Architecture, and Software Innovation in Mainz, Germany.

This event featured an open stage in the exhibition hall where Michael had the privilege to record the first-ever live episodes of the Signals Podcast. The first episode featured Uwe Friedrichsen and Sebastian Meyen addressing the questions: What is AI actually doing to the software industry, and what happens when you add AI to a crisis? The next episode featured Christian Schneider and Torsten Bøgh Köster discussing AIOps as the incorporation of AI into IT operations with a focus on the security implications. They discussed observability, threat modeling, and the impact AI has on system architecture.

The following week and a short flight later Michael headed to London, UK for Devmio's London Week featuring International JavaScript Conference (IJS), API Conference, MLcon, and DevOpsCon.

Tuesday started strong with two talks from Michael - Interior Decorating for IJS and Real-Time Serverless APIs for API Con. Michael also hosted a live podcast episode, Building AI-Powered Software Products for Real-World Problems, for ML Con, featuring Dr. Pieter Buteneers and Martin Stypinski. The three entrepreneurs discussed different things "AI" can mean, the importance of focusing on real-world problems, and how the latest changes in AI and software development have impacted product design.

Wednesday started early with Michael welcoming the IJS attendees to the second day and introducing the keynote speakers for the opening session. Over lunch he took a brief excursion to the nearby Banksy sculpture which was installed just a few weeks earlier.

The day wrapped up with Michael's talk It's About Time for IJS before returning home.
